On Saturday at approximately 2:30 pm, emergency personnel were summoned to a home located north of Warcop, Cumbria, close to the A66.
A farm shooter, aged eight, has been identified by police.
Jay Cartmell was hurt on ground north of Warcop, Cumbria, close to the A66. He sustained injuries to his head and face.
The property was alerted to emergency services at approximately 2:30 PM on Saturday.
The child from Frizington, Cumbria, was evacuated by air ambulance to the hospital where he passed away over night after police confiscated a handgun from the site.
At the scene, a guy in his 60s was taken into custody on charges of assault.
After being placed under police arrest, he was subsequently charged with gross negligence manslaughter.
Later, when police carried out their investigation, the suspect was released on bond.
