This October, City will commemorate Black History Month in collaboration with regional football associations.

The EFL’s Together Against Racism campaign will be promoted during the Imps’ Saturday, October 19, home game against Birmingham City.

In an effort to honor heritage and stories, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lincoln Embracing All Nations, and Lincolnshire FA will collaborate to present a Black History Month art show and panel at the Branston Legends Lounge on Sunday, October 20.

City defender Tendayi Darikwa will talk about his background, experiences, and what Black History Month means to him with former Imps Jason Lee and Gavin Gordon as well as current Lincolnshire grassroots referee Michael Howard.

Tendayi, a Zimbabwean international with 13 caps, has been with the Imps since this summer and has been ever-present in the league so far. Throughout his stellar career, he has played for teams in the Premier League, Conference North, and currently the National League North.

Former Imps striker Jason played for the team from 1991 to 1993, scoring 21 goals in league action during a career that included several years of Premier League play. Jason has worked for the Professional Footballers’ Association as an executive in charge of inclusion, diversity, and equality since 2013.

Gavin, another ex-Imps striker, played for the team from 1997 to 2000. In 114 games throughout this time, he scored 32 goals in all competitions. Gavin, who is still a familiar presence at the Imps, serves as chairman of the Former Players’ Association and frequently provides Radio Lincolnshire with in-depth game summaries.

The event is free, however there is a maximum capacity and reservations are required in advance. The event will start at 2.30 pm, with doors opening at 2 pm. For those who want to see Wolves vs. Manchester City, the Legends Lounge will stay open.
