Since leaving West Ham in the summer, David Moyes has been out of football management; nevertheless, he has recently discussed his potential future plans.
David Moyes, the former manager of West Ham, has hinted that he would want to take the managerial helm again.
After nearly five years as manager of the Hammers, during which he won the Europa Conference League in the league’s first season, Moyes departed the team in the summer.
Before departing the team when his contract expired, the 61-year-old led West Ham to a ninth-place finish in the Premier League and made it to the Europa League quarterfinals the previous season.
Julen Lopetegui, who has had a challenging start at the London Stadium with the Hammers in 14th place in the Premier League standings and having lost five of their first ten games, took Moyes’ place at West Ham.
Even though Moyes departed West Ham a few months ago, he has recently hinted at his potential future as a manager.
In an interview with Sky Bet’s Stick to Football podcast, Moyes stated, “I’m beginning to think about it, but there isn’t a case of that [wanting to get back into management] at all.”
“I’ve been doing well for the past three months because I wanted the vacation. Saying you played 60 games last season may not seem like much, but as a manager returning from Belgium or France on a Thursday night, you’re thinking, “My goodness, I’ve got to get the team prepared – I’ve got to get all the work done.”
“You’re attempting to prepare them for a Premier League game after possible debriefs. Over the past three years, I have found that amount of work to be incredibly challenging, but it was enjoyable to be in that position.
Moyes had previously managed West Ham, Everton, Manchester United, and Sunderland in the Premier League. He also had a stint as manager of Real Sociedad in Spain. The former Hammers manager acknowledged that if the chance arises, moving overseas is not completely out of the question.
“I would [go abroad again to manage],” Moyes declared. “I had a great time in Spain and learned a lot.
“There was problems for Real Sociedad. Had I remained longer? Perhaps a bit more time.”
