Washington As the holiday season approaches, social media posts and viral stories claiming that taxpayers in certain areas will get a government stimulus check of $2,000 or more are circulating online once more.
Following Donald Trump’s victory earlier this month as the 47th president of the United States, this claim has lately gained steam once more after resurfacing multiple times over the past year.
Will 2024 or 2025 see the issuance of government stimulus checks?
But according to a cursory look at the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) website, no additional economic stimulus payments are planned. During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the IRS made three rounds of these payments; the most recent round was made almost three years ago.

Those who missed a stimulus payment may still be able to claim it on a subsequent tax return, even though the majority of eligible persons have already received their benefits. For anyone who missed one or more Economic Impact Payments, there is a refundable credit known as the Recovery Rebate Credit. While the 2020 credit filing and claim deadline has passed, the 2021 credit filing and claim deadline is April 15, 2025.
