While Jamie Carragher thinks that “Mikel Arteta is slowly turning into a Jose Mourinho type of manager,” Roy Keane expresses his concern about Arsenal’s mindset.

According to Jamie Carragher, Mikel Arteta is not becoming the new Pep Guardiola but rather the next Jose Mourinho.

After controlling the first half, Arsenal was beaten to a 2-2 tie by Liverpool on Super Sunday.

Following a similar trend to their draws with Brighton and Manchester City, as well as their most recent loss to Bournemouth, the Gunners were pegged back after the break due to injuries to Gabriel and Jurrien Timber.

Roy Keane of Sky Sports said, “I’m beginning to worry about Arsenal’s mentality now.”

“Rather than aiming for the third goal, they just sit back once they’re ahead. If Liverpool wanted it, they were willing to take it. All I’m concerned about is whether they think they can actually compete with Manchester City.

Nevertheless, all of Arsenal’s previous losses this season have come when they were down to ten players, and they spent a significant portion of the second half playing against Liverpool, who were leading the table going into the weekend’s games, with a makeshift back four consisting of Thomas Partey, Ben White, Jakub Kiwior, and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The intriguing thing about watching, and I’ve been considering this for a while, is that we’ve been assuming Mikel Arteta is a follower of Pep Guardiola because he worked with him,” Carragher remarked.

However, if you consider the two most successful managers in the past fifteen years, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are both present.

“Mikel Arteta is gradually becoming more like Jose Mourinho as a manager. No one actually believed that would occur. They pulled back in the second half today.
