As the 2025 season is three weeks old, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami is in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Despite having a full schedule in both the MLS and the Concacaf Champions Cup, Inter Miami CF continues to win.
After defeating the Houston Dynamo 4-1 and drawing with New York City FC 2-2, Miami defeated Wilfried Zaha’s Charlotte FC 1-0 on Matchday 3 to win their second straight league game.
Despite occasional recklessness and receiving red cards in all three of their MLS games, head coach Javier Mascherano’s club has managed to accumulate points and is still unbeaten in the league and Champions Cup.
The MLS Eastern Conference table following the first three weeks of play is shown here. At the conclusion of the 34-game regular season, the top seven teams advance straight to the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, and the No. 8 seed faces the No. 9 seed in a one-match play-in game.
By the completion of the 34-game season in 2024, Inter Miami had set a new regular season points record of 74. Even though they still have a long way to go, they might be able to do it this season, particularly if Lionel Messi makes a comeback to the starting lineup following three straight absences against Charlotte, Houston, and Jamaica’s Cavalier FC.
