The bookmakers’ favorite to replace Mark Robins as Coventry City’s manager is former England player Frank Lampard.
Frank Lampard has maintained that his desire to succeed as a leader has not been tempered by the demands of his previous two managing positions.
The 46-year-old Chelsea and England legend is a strong contender for the open position at Coventry City. Following seven losses in their first 14 Championship games, Coventry’s owner Doug King made the decision to fire Mark Robins earlier this week.
Lampard, who has been unemployed for 18 months, is one of several well-known applicants for the position. During the 2022–2023 season, the 46-year-old had two difficult stints as Everton’s manager and as an interim manager at Chelsea.
“No, not at all,” Lampard said earlier this year when asked if his time at Everton and his second tenure in the Stamford Bridge dugout had turned him off. You enjoy your work and are aware of the demands of the modern workplace, which we witness frequently.
“All of the clubs I’ve worked with have been enjoyable, but they’ve all presented significant hurdles for various reasons. Let’s see what happens. I like working with guys to help them become better players and teams.
After Vincent Kompany joined Bayern Munich in the summer, Lampard was frequently mentioned in connection with the Burnley position. Lampard has had to occupy his time this season with punditry duties after Scott Parker eventually secured the Turf Moor position.
“I’ve had some opportunities, but they didn’t feel right at the moment,” Lampard remarked. I have, therefore, occasionally sort of accepted that choice.
However, I feel prepared now, so we’ll see what opportunities present themselves. Of course, I’m prepared to work. We shall see, as I enjoy my work.
Lampard has held four managing positions overall. He had success with Derby County and during his first stint at Stamford Bridge, but he struggled to produce wins with Everton and Chelsea during his second stint.
