Bayern Munich are intensifying their efforts to sign German centre-back Jonathan Tah, who is also a top defensive target for Xabi Alonso as he prepares to take over at Real Madrid. Tah, 29, has confirmed he will leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer after a decade at the club, making him a highly sought-after free agent.

Xabi Alonso, who recently announced his departure from Leverkusen at the end of the season, is widely expected to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid’s manager. Reports suggest that Alonso is keen on bringing Tah to Madrid as part of a broader squad overhaul.

However, Bayern Munich are making a strong push to keep Tah in the Bundesliga. The club sees him as a valuable addition to their defensive lineup, especially with the potential departure of Kim Min-jae, who could be sold for €40–50 million despite expressing a desire to stay.

Tah’s availability on a free transfer has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Manchester United, Barcelona, and Newcastle United. While Real Madrid offers the allure of reuniting with Alonso, Bayern Munich presents the opportunity to remain in Germany and compete at the highest level.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the competition for Tah’s signature is expected to intensify, with both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid vying for the experienced defender.
