Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has eliminated Liverpool from the UEFA Champions League, winning the second leg of their Round of 16 tie at Anfield. PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé scored the decisive goal in the first half, leveling the aggregate score at 1-1 after Liverpool’s 1-0 victory in Paris. The match proceeded to a penalty shootout, where PSG emerged victorious, ending Liverpool’s aspirations for a Champions League and Premier League double this season.

In the first leg, Liverpool secured a narrow 1-0 win in Paris, with Harvey Elliott scoring the only goal. Despite PSG’s dominance, including 27 shots to Liverpool’s two, goalkeeper Alisson’s outstanding performance preserved the lead.

Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, acknowledged PSG’s dominance in the first leg and emphasized the importance of preparation for the return match at Anfield.

This elimination marks a significant setback for Liverpool, who have been in impressive form this season under Slot, winning 34 of their 45 matches and leading the Premier League by 15 points over Arsenal.

PSG’s victory at Anfield propels them into the Champions League quarterfinals, keeping alive their pursuit of a maiden Champions League title.
