
Renowned actor Gene Hackman, aged 95, and his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, 63, were found deceased in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home on Wednesday afternoon, as confirmed by Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza. Their dog was also found dead at the scene. Authorities have stated that no foul play is suspected, though the exact cause of death has yet to be determined.
Gene Hackman’s illustrious career spanned over four decades, during which he earned two Academy Awards for his roles in “The French Connection” and “Unforgiven.” He was also known for his performances in films such as “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Superman,” and “The Royal Tenenbaums.” In addition to his acting career, Hackman pursued writing, authoring several novels after retiring from acting in 2004.
Betsy Arakawa, a classical pianist and businesswoman, married Hackman in 1991. The couple resided in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where they led a private life away from the public eye.
Hackman is survived by his three children from his first marriage to Faye Maltese: son Christopher, and daughters Elizabeth and Leslie.
