According to sources in his home country of Hungary, Kecskemeti TE midfielder Tamas Nikitscher is a target for Norwich City.

The 25-year-old is reportedly drawing interest from three Championship clubs, including City, as well as teams in Spain and Germany ahead of the January transfer window after making an impression despite Necskemti’s difficulties in the top flight this season, according to reports from the Hungarian publication Nemzeti Sport.

Nikitscher, a six-foot-four midfielder who can play in attacking or center positions, has made enough of an impression to start Hungary’s last three Nations League games against the Netherlands and Bosnia.

Zoltan Gera, a West Brom veteran, took over as Nikitscher’s domestic manager last month. He has played for Hungary four times, and in September, he earned his maiden cap by coming on as a substitute in a 5-0 loss to Germany.

After stints with Makoi and Debreceni VSC, he transferred from Pecsi MFC to Kecskemeti in 2023. In the summer, his contract is set to expire.

Despite his team’s difficulties, his steady performances have stoked rumors about his future. After finishing in the top six the previous two seasons, Kecskemeti is now firmly anchored at the bottom of the Hungarian top flight standings, having only won once in their first 13 games.

Norwich and the two Championship teams, Coventry and Middlesbrough, are reportedly monitoring his progress, but the midfield player is concentrating on his responsibilities at his present club.

When questioned about the interest, Nikitscher responded, “I’m focusing on helping my club, which is going through ups and downs.”

“I’m focused on my work, and I hope I can help us advance in the league as quickly as possible. Naturally, being invited to the national team is an honor, and I will undoubtedly try my hardest to perform well for the team as well.

“My future doesn’t worry me. I’m focusing on the work I have at hand.”

Balazs Nanasi, Nikitscher’s agent, has acknowledged that his client is receiving increasing interest from abroad, with Real Valladolid of Spain being mentioned as a possible suitor.

According to Nanasi, Nikitscher’s agent, “we are constantly negotiating; we strive for the best solution,” Nemzeti Sport reported.

Spain, Germany, and England have all contacted us. Others have been contacted multiple times, while some clubs are only interested in the short term.

The most crucial thing is that Tamás joins a team and plays football in a league that fits his style of play so he can advance, which is obviously a step in the right direction for him.
