The 2024 second-round selection, who has mostly struggled against NBA-level talent in his rookie season, put on an encouraging performance even if the Lakers still lost. At the very least, Los Angeles head coach JJ Redick was

impressed—not just by James’s memorable performance, but also by the way he has handled the barrage of criticism that has plagued his career thus far. Redick claimed that James’s behaviour towards “bull—-” is a reflection of his background and the type of parents he had.

Redick remarked, “I’ve just been impressed with the person that he is,” according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “And dealing with… to be honest, bull— because of his dad’s character and simply remaining composed and acting classy says a lot about him and that family.” And from the first time I spent time with him on the court this summer, I could see how LeBron and Savannah [James] had raised him. He was undoubtedly destined to play in the NBA, and I continue to think so.”

Redick gave all the Jameses a very high complement.

Although the Lakers have higher expectations for this season, Thursday gave the team a positive look at what they might have with Bronny and the kind of player he could become if all goes according to plan.
